All day, every day…

This afternoon at the hair salon, I had the opportunity to chat with a retired teacher.
I also had the opportunity to listen to her conversation with the shampoo tech, whilst being rinsed.
She and the tech were discussing how children in some schools are no longer required to write. I don’t mean that kids don’t have to write papers. They are still required to develop and type papers and other various homework assignments.
I mean, some kids don’t have to physically hold a pen or pencil and write on paper. This disturbs me to no end.
Equally disturbing is the fact that some schools are getting rid of textbooks. While I understand the need to save the trees, I also believe there are fundamental building blocks to learning and a good education.
One must crawl before he walks.
ALL KIDS SHOULD HAVE TO LEARN TO PRINT AND WRITE IN CURSIVE, BEFORE THEY LEARN TO TYPE. ALL CHILDREN SHOULD EXPERIENCE READING BOOKS. AND THEY SHOULD ALL LEARN THE VALUE OF HOLDING CONVERSATIONS WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND HAVING THE ABILITY TO SPEAK IN PUBLIC.
Using letters to form syllables, combining syllables to form words, grouping words to form sentences, building paragraphs…clearly communicating ideas.
Turning the book right-side up. Opening the cover, turning the pages, reading top to bottom and right to left…
If all the electricity goes out and the computers crash or the cell phone towers fail, how will the children communicate with one another?
This is directly from Rick Perry’s Campaign Website:
“Perry has signed more pro-life legislation than any other governor in the history of his state, including:
THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I WILL CONSIDER MOVING TO EUROPE IF THIS IDIOT GETS ELECTED!
The parental consent law for minors is not too bad, as long as the parents who don’t consent to an abortion agree to pay for the child born out of wedlock and the mom/baby/parents all sign a form agreeing not to go on public assistance for the next 5 years. If parents want their underage child to bring another underage child into the world…if they want it sooooooo bad, then they can pay for it/support it financially :)
The Woman’s Right to Know Act includes the following: “The father is required to help support the child whether or not he has offered to pay for an abortion.” This is really being enforced, lemme tell ya!
How many mothers out there are owed back child support? Have you seen it yet, moms? You can’t force a guy to pay child support. If he doesn’t work, then he can’t pay you. If he doesn’t work, they can’t take it out of his check. If he doesn’t file taxes, they can’t take it out of his tax return. And, if he goes to jail for not paying child support…he gets 3 square meals a day, books to read, t.v. to watch, a workout room in which to get fit and guess what!?!? He’s still not earning any money with which to pay you child support! WOW :)
Thank you so much giving me the right to know that, Rick Perry and state of Texas. As a woman (who’s rights are different than other US citizens?) I will be eternally grateful that you gave me such an AMAZING piece of knowledge! *tear*
Rick Perry recognizes the personhood of and gives rights to unborn children, yet he denies rights to gays, who are in fact persons who’ve already been born and are living right here, right now!?!? Extremely sensible. I see a lot of logical thinking occurring, here.
A ban on late-term abortions, is most likely a good thing. However, there should still be exceptions granted in some circumstances. Like, death of the mother, rape, you know…all those cheerful topics.
The biggest tactical error that Rick the Dick has made, is de-funding Planned Parenthood. Way to go dumbass! Planned parenthood provides well woman exams, pap smears, breast exams, prenatal care, birth control pills, condoms, sexual and reproductive education and more. They are NOT a one-stop abortion shop.
Annual exams are extremely important for all women. They can help detect ovarian cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer. And guess what? These services are offered at affordable prices so that those without insurance still have the ability to remain healthy and detect diseases early :) It’s not just underage, single sluts that go to planned parenthood. Married men and women go all the time.
But, since we’re on the topic of underage sluts…
(btw, that is sarcasm. Sexually active and responsible young adult women are not sluts.)
I should mention that the teen pregnancy rate in Texas is one of the highest in our nation. In 2005, New Mexico had the highest teenage pregnancy rate (93 per 1,000), followed by Nevada,Arizona, Texas and Mississippi. In 2005, teenage birthrates were highest in Texas (62 per 1,000). http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/USTPtrends.pdf
With rates like this, why would we need an organization like Planned Parenthood!?
Right, Rick? Isn’t that what you were thinking?
***packing my bags already***
A friend of mine posted something on Facebook that made me pretty mad today. I hate when that happens because I love this guy! Seriously, fun times back in the day. However…
He posted, “Working two jobs just to get by is no fun. Thanks for nothing, Obama.”
“Why did this make you angry Trish?” many will ask. “Is it because you are a democrat, and don’t like to hear negative things about Obama, even if they are the truth?”
That’s not it at all.
I’ll tell you why I am angry.
#1-The kid writing this has 2 jobs. Some people can’t even find one right now. And he’s bitching. Shouldn’t he be feeling blessed that A) he has not 1, but 2 jobs and B) God/Allah/Yaweh/Whoever has given him the physical ability to work these jobs to provide for his family? No? My Bad!
#2-How the hell did Barack Obama make this guy work two jobs? Did Barack Obama get my friend drunk and put him behind the wheel of his car so he could get a DWI? Nope! Barack was not there. This kid made that choice on his own. He got his own DWI and I drove his ass to college the last semester so he could finish his classes. He got pulled over. He got the ticket. He got the license suspension. He got the surcharge that he had to pay for so many years and it was his fault the cost of his auto insurance went up! (Bet he wasn’t thinking about that when he was bitching about working two jobs just to get by) You can lower your expenses, by making good decisions.
Speaking of decisions affecting one’s income and outgoing funds…
Did Barack Obama roll the joints this kid smoked? Did Barack Obama pull this guy’s penis out of his pants and put it in a woman’s vagina so he could impregnate her? Again, Barack was not present…either time. That’s right folks, this guy has 2 children. He impregnated not 1 but 2 different people, while not married to them. He did decide to marry baby momma number 2. Thank ya jeebus! I’ll agree that it’s quite expensive to provide for a family of four, but that was his choice. He chose to have 2 babies and marry a woman.
#3-This guy is a teacher. Most teachers in the state of Texas start at approximately 40-50 thousand dollars per year. While I agree that they don’t make enough for all that they do, that dollar amount is substantially more than I make per year and I’m not STRUGGLING TO MAKE IT! It’s called budget, bitches! Prioritize!
TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR YOUR LIFE CHOICES AND YOUR ACTIONS AND QUIT BLAMING BARACK OBAMA FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Please fire me. My supervisor recently asked me to stop being so proactive.
Please fire me. During my performance review, I was told I wouldn’t be getting a raise because I’m not peppy enough. My job entails filing paperwork.
